EAGLE

EAGLE is a made up brand which sells survival equipment and gear, and was given to us as a project in the John Bryce Academy course. We were told to make a site UI and logo as the project, and make it look as real as possible.

Using Photoshop and Illustrator, we designed the site and logo for the brand using inspiration from different e-commerce sites and eagle-themed logos.

For the logo, I took the silhouette of an eagle with it’s wings spread out and broke it into shapes,  making the body and the wings connect into a simple V shape and took 2 skewed squares to represent the feathers. As for the head, I made it into a hook shape, representing both a climbing hook and the head of an eagle turned in profile view.

Next to the big logo you can see the smaller version, more fit to the size of the screen and closer to the actual size it’d be on the site. It was important to keep the text under the logo clear and readable, for it is the main thing people look at when they enter the site.

I chose a bolder color palette for the site because I felt like it fit the theme of survival and extremes better.

The colors were picked from the header image to keep a consistent aesthetic going.

The end result is a site that’s suited for customers who’d like to browse and/or purchase EAGLE’s wares, whether it be for extremes/survival, and receive the complete experience of online shopping.

M.E Nails

For our final print project, we were instructed to completely remake a brand from the bottom up; from the logo, to legal papers, to posters. We could pick an already existing brand to remake or make a completely new one for a friend or a family member, and I chose to make a brand for my sister’s nail business: M.E Nails.

For the logo, I’ve chosen colors that associated with the color of skin and nails, pink being the most popular color people choose for their manicure.

As a little detail, I added a nail outline in the N letter to represent the nails, and colored it red, being the second most popular nail color.

I kept the theme of pink and red on beige (skin color) consistent throughout the pieces, using hand drawn figures of hands and fingers to build a brand language.

We were also told to design packaging for the brand, and I chose to make a hand cream box and a nail file, of course, because of it being a must in the nail business.

As a result I created a brand language that is fun but sophisticated, something that a nail business strives to represent. Clients know what they’re in for, and that is a fun experience that will leave them wanting for more.
